  • 4-6 pieces cube steak evenly cut
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2-3 tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 cups beef broth low sodium recommended
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 2-3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup mushrooms sliced (optional)
  • 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup 1 can
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce optional
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions
 

  • Lightly season the cube steak with salt and pepper.
  • Dredge each steak in flour, shaking off any excess.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add cooking oil, and sear each steak for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Layer the sliced onions and mushrooms at the bottom of the crock pot.
  • Place the seared cube steaks on top of the onions and mushrooms.
  • In a bowl, mix together beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, garlic, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Pour the mixture over the steaks, ensuring they are well covered.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours until the steak is tender.
  • Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles. Garnish with fresh parsley or thyme if desired.

Notes

For a complete meal, add quartered potatoes and chopped carrots to the crock pot. If the gravy is too thin, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp cold water and stir into the crock pot 30 minutes before serving.
