Ingredients
  

Sushi Rice

  • 1 cup sushi rice short-grain rice
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Nigiri Assembly

  • 5 oz sushi-grade salmon thinly sliced
  • wasabi paste optional

Instructions
 

  • Rinse sushi rice in cold water until water runs clear. Cook rice with measured water in a rice cooker or pot until tender.
  • In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat gently until dissolved. Stir into cooked rice and let cool.
  • Wet hands to prevent sticking. Shape a small amount of rice into an oblong mound using fingers.
  • Optional: Add a dab of wasabi on top of the rice. Place a slice of salmon over the rice, gently pressing to adhere.
  • Repeat with remaining rice and salmon. Serve with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi.

Notes

Use only high-quality sushi-grade salmon. Keep everything cold and clean to maintain freshness and safety.
