The Original Chicken Sandwich

Ingredients
  

Marinade

  • 1/2 cup pickle juice
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 chicken breasts halved and pounded to even thickness

Breading

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Assembly

  • 4 burger buns buttered and toasted
  • 8 slices pickles
  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, mix pickle juice and milk. Add chicken and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  • In another bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Remove chicken from marinade and dredge in flour mixture, pressing to coat well. Fry 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.
  • Place each fried chicken piece on the bottom bun, add pickle slices, and cover with top bun. Serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a dash of hot sauce or a slice of cheese. Best served immediately for maximum crispiness.
